Since you asked how I use the program, I use a batch file program called "Launchy" http://www.launchy.net/ to load all of my work environment programs with a few keystrokes. Tuniac, two timer programs, and a documentation program start with 4 keystrokes.

I'm experimenting with your custom version this weekend. I love this program.


Q: The database of music gets large quickly! I appreciate the total music time but I didn't expect it to be measured in weeks! . Is it possible to run the program in a sequential mode so that eventually a listener is sure to have heard every song in the database? I can't imagine just letting it run for the whole time. Is it possible to restart the program and continue down a list?

If you left Tuniac open the entire time and did not touch the filter(this causes a reset of the invisible shuffle list), it would play every song exactly once.

There is no way to save an automatically created shuffle list. You can see Tuniacs intended play order with the "order" column, but you can not sort by this field.
I might revisit the fact you can not shuffle by the order column over this weekend but I am pretty sure this limitation can not easily be overcome.

I assume the "Rebuild Media Library" follows the current database and won't pickup new sub directories.

Would it be possible to add a "Rebuild database from root file system" in the Database Tools?
You could make it grammatically easier with a dialogue for the user to enter 5 base directories. I'd like something that I could set before I leave the computer for sleep or whatever and come back to an updated database.

The command line options work.

So far I'm gravitating to these uses.

I have Databases set up for my laptop and for my laptop with network drives. Without the drives I load a different database.

I have added 'Relax' to the end of genre entries and made genre a searchable category in preferences. When I want to write I select 'relax' entries and that gets me started.

Jazz Relax and Classical Relax are popular choices.

Rebuild rereads info for existing songs, checks for dead files/removes any found and does extremely minor db maintenance.

An option to readd a particular folder I may do in the near future, but I wouldn't go holding my breathe for 5 assignable directory's.

Note you can create a Music Library in Windows Vista and above; this can point to an infinite amount of folders. Adding the Windows Music Library in Tuniac will add all folders linked to it.
