Column Selection & DB Size

Post by Sigurd »

Hi.

Things are going great. Thank you.

Perhaps a stupid question. Column selection doesn't change the size of the Database, only what is reported from the database?

All the options shown are already in the database, right?

Yes everything is added to the DB when the file was first imported in to Tuniac or when you tell Tuniac to update the file, excluding album art which is loaded as needed. The DB is saved to disk on close or when you force a save.
The DB includes all fields regardless of what you selected to show.

The one catch is some of the newer fields such as beats per minute, composer, album artist, disc number and bits per sample etc may not have existed in Tuniac DB when the file was first imported in to an older Tuniac. Those fields will be blank until you force update the file in Tuniac with right click->update or if you delete from Tuniac and readd.
Also Tuniac does not calculate things like beats per minute or replay gain itself, Tuniac depends on standard tags to be set for such a field by another application.
The major audio formats like FLAC, mp3, aac etc tend to have more tags supported in Tuniac. If something is missing from a format you use let me know.
